Arthur Press got hooked on computers as a kid when his dad brought home a tiny ZX80 Sinclair with a whopping 1k of memory. That early curiosity turned into a lifelong career in technology and cybersecurity, working with large companies and teaching future IT professionals at Cal Lutheran University. He also served for years as a volunteer with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, which gave him a front row seat to how crime has shifted from the street to the screen.
Today, Arthur’s focus is GetCyber, a community program he founded to help everyday people stay safe online. GetCyber offers free, plain-language seminars that show seniors, families, and small business owners how to spot scams, protect their money, and avoid online traps. No tech jargon, no scare tactics, just practical steps people can use the same day.
Drawing on 25 years in IT and IT security, plus his experience in law enforcement, Arthur designs each session to answer real questions from the community. He handles the slides, sign ups, and materials so hosts can simply open the doors and welcome people in. When he is not talking about passwords and phishing scams. In his spare time Arthur enjoys photography and long distance Ironman swimming.
